Strengthening the structure
Basically, structures can be strengthened in two ways – you can either restore the design of a historical building or change the use of a facility or its extension.
Tapes from carbon fiber and/or steel are the most commonly used materials for structural reinforcement.
It is often necessary to merge scratches in structures that are being built. In this case, we mostly use the method of pressure injection. The injected low-viscosity resin adheres very well to the concrete and gets more durable after setting.
Pressure injection
In the photo on the left, you can see clearly the boundary of the concrete. That would not be wrong, if the working joints had been planned exactly in these places. However, the problem arose during one concreting cycle due to a very high temperature while concreting and an interruption in supply of the concrete mix. In this case the only reasonable solution was to merge the concrete by injecting epoxy resin.
Repairing with PCC
The easiest type of repairs consists in removing the effects of corrosion. This can be done by sandblasting or hydromonitoring, securing reinforcing bars and making a new top layer. You can carry out repairs of this kind only if the cross-section of the reinforcing bars has not been reduced by corrosion excessively.
